Avnish Kumar Sharma is a techno-commercial investment professional and Director at Climate Fund Managers (CFM), a leading global blended finance investment manager dedicated to climate infrastructure, where he leads the firm’s India desk. He is responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of climate infrastructure investments across renewable energy, sustainable fuels, and the circular economy, deploying blended finance capital into scalable platforms that accelerate India’s energy transition.

At CFM, Avnish manages the firm’s investments in Ampyr Energy, a renewable energy platform, and Akaia Green Fuels, a biogas platform, overseeing platform growth, governance, and value creation. He also plays an active role in CFM’s fund raising, engaging with development finance institutions and institutional investors, and works closely with developers, corporates, and government stakeholders to mobilise capital for climate solutions in India.

He brings over 15 years of experience in the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors, including the execution of large and complex M&A transactions of over 2.5 GW for Petronas (Malaysia) and leading private equity funds, along with a strong track record of managing investments for global conglomerates, including the Sinarmas Group in Indonesia. Earlier in his career, he gained infrastructure finance and policy experience through roles at Larsen & Toubro and the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

Avnish holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PGDM from IIM Calcutta and is a GARP-certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) — a techno-commercial foundation that combines engineering depth and financial acumen with deep expertise in climate and infrastructure investing.
