Why India?
The 4th World Biogas Association India Congress, held in New Delhi on 8-9 October, 2026, is a high-level summit, bringing together 300+ policy and business leaders to accelerate the growth of India’s biogas sector at a crucial time for India’s energy security.
Senior stakeholders from government, energy networks, financiers, developers, operators, feedstock suppliers and technology providers will share insights into new projects under development and debate the opportunities and challenges facing the sector as it enters this new phase of expansion.
With the urgent need for new CBG facilities to reduce India’s reliance on gas imports, and to tackle air pollution in India’s cities, the Congress will address the critical issues of feedstock security, plant optimisation, offtake agreements, and project finance.
International speakers will share best practices from around the world, and extensive networking opportunities will ensure all attendees meet and forge new business connections with potential partners and clients.
For national and international stakeholders, the opportunity spans the full value chain:
Innovative technology collaboration: High-efficiency digesters, upgrading and CO₂ capture systems, modular plants for smaller towns, and digital twins for performance optimisation
EPC and O&M services: Remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, feedstock pre-treatment and guaranteed uptime contracts
Innovative finance: Project equity, debt and blended-finance vehicles; warehouse facilities to scale portfolios; carbon offtake agreements to monetise avoided methane
Offtake and trading: Long-term CBG supply to transport fleets and industry; certificates for renewable gas; integration with green hydrogen and microgrid applications
Circular products: Premium biofertilisers and soil-carbon services for regenerative agriculture
What is distinctive in India is the depth of feedstock and the will to scale the industry from pilot to platform projects. International partners who bring bankable technology, balance-sheet strength and disciplined execution can secure multi-year pipelines with attractive risk-adjusted returns – while delivering measurable climate impact and energy security at state level. In short: the enabling environment is no longer theoretical; it is investable – and it is moving quickly.
