Overview
One year on from the launch of the Global Methane Pledge, over 120 signatories have now committed to cutting their methane emissions by 30% by 2030 to help reduce global warming by 1.5c. While the initiative draws attention to the need for a rapid reduction of methane emissions, pledges must now be turned into action. Deploying biogas to its full potential could deliver~50% of the pledge, and therefore it must take centre stage if countries are to deliver on these targets.
WBA has launched its Policy Briefing “Delivering the Global Methane Pledge” to draw attention to the vital role that biogas will play in capturing potent methane emissions produced by poorly managed organic wastes. Spoke alongside representatives from the Global Methane Initiative, ABiogás and C40 Cities, WBA has deep dived into the potential of biogas, and showcase action from around the globe.
