WBA Connect+ Webinar: Event: India’s CBG Moment: Market outlook, policy signals & investment readiness
WHEN: 10 September 2026, 1:10-2PM BST | Online
WBA Connect+ Webinar | India’s CBG Moment: From Policy Push to Investable Projects
Get a sober, factual, insider-led overview of where India really is today and what is bankable in the near and mid-term future.
India is entering a defining phase for compressed biogas (CBG), driven by ambitious national targets, waste-to-energy mandates, and accelerating private-sector participation. But beyond the headlines, the reality on the ground is more nuanced.
For investors, developers, and technology providers, key questions remain: What is truly bankable today? Where are the real opportunities and the hidden risks?
Join us for the opening session of the WBA Connect+ Bioenergy India Series, where Colonel Rohit Dev brings an insider, data-driven perspective on India’s rapidly evolving biogas landscape with the host of the day, Dr. Srinivas Kasulla, Tattva Engineering Systems
This session will cut through the noise to provide a clear, practical view of market conditions, project economics, policy direction, and investment viability.
We will explore what is shaping the market now and what will define its growth in the coming years.
What you’ll gain:
-
A grounded understanding of India’s national push for CBG, including the evolution of key programmes such as SATAT
-
Insight into real project dynamics: typical plant sizes, timelines, and where development is happening
-
Clarity on pricing mechanisms, policy incentives, and how procurement works in practice
-
A realistic view of key risks from feedstock security to permitting and offtake challenges
-
A global comparison of India’s position relative to more mature markets in Europe and the US
WBA Connect+ Webinar | From Waste Challenge to Energy Opportunity: Mexico’s Biofuels Strategy
Join the WBA Community for a conversation with Benly Liliana Ramírez Higareda and Germán Ruiz Méndez (SEMARNAT) on Mexico’s emerging National Biofuels Programme and the growing role of biogas and biomethane in the country’s energy transition.
Mexico presents a unique paradox: despite its significant technical potential to produce biogas, biomethane and other biofuels from organic waste, deployment remains limited and uneven. While the resource base is substantial, challenges relating to regulation, market design, financing and project development continue to slow progress.
Building on recent work supporting Mexico’s national strategy for waste valorisation and biofuels, as well as the country’s new Biofuels Law, which mandates SEMARNAT to develop national policy and programmes for the valorisation of organic waste and wastewater, this webinar will provide a forward-looking and practical perspective on how Mexico can move from potential to implementation.
The session will explore the opportunities and barriers shaping the sector, the relevance of the WBA’s Making Biogas Happen regulatory framework in the Mexican context, and the role biogas and biomethane can play in strengthening Mexico’s energy mix while advancing climate and circular economy objectives.
What you’ll explore in this webinar:
- Mexico’s real-world biogas and biofuels potential, and how it compares with theoretical estimates.
- Technologies available today, including covered anaerobic lagoons, CSTR and UASB/IC reactors, and the barriers to wider adoption.
- Project economics, including CAPEX, OPEX, revenue streams and risk allocation.
- The impact of regulation and recent policy developments on market growth.
- Opportunities across the value chain, including energy, biomethane, biofertilisers and other bioproducts.
- Financing challenges and the potential of models such as PPPs, off-take agreements and thermal certificates.
- The key conditions required to scale successful projects across Mexico.
This session will provide a realistic, system-level view of one of Latin America’s most promising biogas markets and the practical steps needed to unlock its full potential.
