WBA attends 7th Value4Farm Consortium Meeting in Selfoss, Iceland

The World Biogas Association (WBA)’s Policy and Communication teams joined the 7th Consortium Meeting for the EU Horizon Europe – Value4Farm project, which aims to decarbonise agriculture through the integration of biomethane and agrivoltaic technologies into farming systems across Europe. The meeting brought together representatives of the 14 partners involved in this EU-funded programme of research to share progress, discuss ongoing activities, and coordinate priorities for the project’s final stages. It provided a valuable opportunity to hear updates from all partners, exchange insights on current developments, and discuss the strategy for exploitation of the project outcomes as it approaches its closing date of February 2027.

The first evening also offered an unforgettable opportunity to see the northern lights

The two-day meeting included updates from Inagro, Unicatt and Aarhus University on the demonstration sites in Belgium, Italy and Denmark, where new technologies and protocols have been implemented and tested to consolidate the knowledge acquired before it is shared with farmers. Another key session was a workshop on intellectual property given by Einar Mäntyla, Orkidea’s Innovation Consultant.

The WBA Policy team facilitated a workshop on drafting the exploitation roadmap, which will contain strategies to ensure the project results reach their target audience and translate into practical applications beyond the project’s lifetime. In an interactive session, project partners discussed the roadmap methodology, assessing their project results’ readiness levels and identifying the activities, resources and partnerships needed to support future uptake.

Delegates also heard about the WBA and Inagro teams’ work to build partnerships and synergies with other EU Horizon projects. The aim is to identify and facilitate knowledge exchange and explore opportunities to increase the reach and impact of the Value4Farm outputs through collaboration beyond the immediate consortium of partners.

Alongside this, WBA is also preparing for the end-of-project conference, which will take place at the Bio360 Europe 2027 Conference and Expo in Nantes, France, on 4 February 2027 – just a few weeks before the official closure of the Value4Farm project. Site visits and the final Consortium Meeting of project partners will also take place around this event.  The conference and exhibition itself will run from 3 until 4 February.  Both the End of Conference and Bio360 Europe will be free to attend.  Value4Farm will also have a stand where partners will showcase the Decision Support Tool, Microturbines and other project outputs.

Overall, the meeting helped consolidate progress, align partners around key priorities and clarify the direction for the exploitation and dissemination activities needed to ensure maximum and lasting impact of the Value4Farm project on European agriculture.
