Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change, has invited WBA President David Newman to attend the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 24) in Poland this December.
In a personal letter, Ms Espinosa said WBA’s “leadership and unwavering commitment to forging a more sustainable and inclusive future is well known and highly respected” and that David’s presence at COP 24 and participation in some of the associated events “would be a real inspiration for the global community to spur innovative solutions, build new alliances and scale-up their on-going efforts to raise ambition on climate change”.
David recently joined Ms Espinosa on a panel at the CleanEnviro Summit in Singapore to discuss catalysing a resilient and sustainable future.
COP 24 will take place in Katowice, Poland from 3rd-14th December and aims to deliver the guidelines for operationalisation of the Paris Agreement and address central issues of support such as climate finance, technology and capacity building.
