Member press release – Wangen Pumps: productivity, quality and precision – investment continues in 2021
Wangen in the Allgäu region of Germany, July 2021. This year, Pumpenfabrik Wangen GmbH, one of the market leaders in the production of progressing cavity pumps and twin screw pumps, is investing more than €1.5 million in new machines for the production of stators, thereby modernising its production plant in Wangen in the Allgäu region of Germany.
“This investment underlines our belief in the site and production in Germany as a whole. We examined several options, which have resulted in a clear commitment to our site in Wangen in the Allgäu region and to our in-house production depth,” confirms Claus Garnjost, CEO of Pumpenfabrik Wangen GmbH.
Four of the latest generation of state-of-the-art machines will be used in the Pumpenfabrik Wangen stator works, setting clear benchmarks in terms of productivity, quality, precision and technology leadership. “We are extremely proud that four new machines are doing their work and that we are thereby modernising our production plant with regard to Industry 4.0 and digitalisation,” continues Simon Laible, Head of Operations and Authorised Officer at Pumpenfabrik Wangen GmbH.
The flagship machines in the production plant are two DESMA Elastomertechnik GmbH elastomer injection moulding machines, a Mazak Corporation turning machine, and an OTI Oberflächentechnik GmbH blasting machine. “These new machines enable us to achieve very high quality levels, particularly with rubber processing, and process times are significantly accelerated,” stresses Lucas Mayer, Head of the Stator Works and the CNC department at Pumpenfabrik Wangen GmbH.
Apart from continuous investment in plant and machinery, the company is also investing in state-of-the-art shop floor management methods for personnel and management development. Based on the Toyota Production System (TPS), employees and management place great importance on the avoidance of waste to achieve lasting increases in productivity and quality.
