Dr SSV Ramakumar
Executive Vice President, AM Green
Dr.SSV Ramakumar is currently the Chief Technology officer and Executive Vice President of AM Green- a company promoted by Greenko. In his current assignment, he is responsible for technology scouting, due diligence and adoption of various green technologies that will transform the company’s journey from green electrons to green molecules. He is also a member of the management committee (Board) of AM green, heading the subcommittee on technology & innovation.
Previously, Dr. Ramakumar has been Director, (R&D) on the Board of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., from Feb.2017- July 2023. Dr. Ramakumar, has more than three decades of uninterrupted experience in downstream hydrocarbons sector, notably in the areas of lubricant technology; refinery process research and catalyst development. He was instrumental in the development of India’s home-grown, fuels, lubricants and refinery processes for IndianOil which have been successfully commercialized. He has also pioneered various alternative energy programmes including waste to energy, bio, solar and energy storage etc. Dr. Ramakumar steered the IndianOil Hydrogen endeavours and has worked on various committees working on drawing the strategies for inclusion of hydrogen in the energy mix. Presently, he is on MNRE’s national expert committee which is responsible for implementation of national hydrogen mission road map. Dr. Ramakumar has over 150 research publications in national/international journals and a sizeable number of granted patents.
Besides IndianOil, Dr. Ramakumar also served on several other Boards like Lanzatech, USA, Oil Industry Development; Central Pollution Control, India; Green Gas Ltd., IndianOil Total Pvt. Ltd., IOT Biogas Pvt. Ltd. and IndOil Montney Ltd., Canada.
A fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (FNAE), Dr. Ramakumar has received many awards, including NPMP, FIPI, NRDC, AIIMA Innovation, Bangalore Nano, and WPC Excellence Award for product and process technologies he developed. He holds a doctorate in chemistry from IIT-Roorkee (erstwhile University of Roorkee) and has been conferred with its Distinguished Alumni Award for the year 2021 in Technology & Innovation domains.
