
Benly Ramires Higareda
Co-Founder, CNBiogas
Benly Liliana Ramirez Higareda is a Biochemical Engineer from Mexico with an MSc in Sanitary Engineering from UNESCO-IHE in the Netherlands. With 18 years of experience, she has built strong partnerships across the water, wastewater, and biogas sectors through her technical expertise, commitment, and leadership. She was named a Highly Commended “Woman in Biogas 2025” by the World Biogas Association.
Benly is the co-founder and former President of the National Council of Biogas (CNBiogas) in Mexico, a non-profit created in 2018 that promotes resource-oriented sanitation and supports the biogas industry through collaboration, capacity building, and policy engagement. Today, CNBiogas has 78 active members from seven countries across Latin America and Europe.
On behalf of CNBiogas, Benly contributed to a major mathematical modelling project for biogas production at the Atotonilco WWTP, the largest in Latin America and the third largest in the world. She is co-author of seven technical publications on biogas and has coordinated several diploma courses in partnership with Mexican universities.
