World Biogas Association launches its latest Women in Biogas Survey

  • The Women in Biogas Survey 2026 is now live
  • The survey ends on 24 April 2026
  • Launched in 2022, the biennial survey seeks to gather insights on the presence and role of women in the global biogas sector
  • All genders are invited to complete the survey

The World Biogas Association (WBA) has launched its latest Women in Biogas Survey, which aims to collect information on participation, career pathways, leadership, and access to support and training for women in biogas as well as any barriers experienced. The first-hand perspectives collected in the survey are intended to inform the sector on how to help build a more diverse, innovative, and resilient industry worldwide.

Initiated in 2021, the WBA Women in Biogas workstream seeks to inspire women to enter the industry and empower them to excel. Recognising the importance of having a baseline, WBA conducted the Women in Biogas – Baseline Survey in 2022.  A subsequent survey conducted in 2024 captured updated data on the status of the sector that helped measure the representation and progress of women in biogas. You can read the findings of the comparative report released in 2024 here. This year’s iteration thus focuses on building an evolving picture, with updated and streamlined questions.

The results will be compiled into a report scheduled for publication later this year. The findings are expected to inform future initiatives aimed at strengthening diversity and inclusion in the sector.

Both women and men from around the world are invited to take part in this survey closing on 24 April 2026.  It should take approximately 9 minutes to complete.

About the World Biogas Association

Launched at COP22 in Marrakesh in 2016, the World Biogas Association (WBA) is the global trade association for the biogas, landfill gas, and anaerobic digestion sectors. WBA is dedicated to helping the recycling of all organic wastes, crop residues, and cover crops through biogas technologies like anaerobic digestion. The global adoption of these technologies offers a multifaceted opportunity to produce clean and renewable energy, bioCO2, and natural fertilisers while addressing global development, public health, and economic growth issues. The mission of WBA is to accelerate global bioenergy and biogas development, contributing to climate goals, particularly by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 11% and creating up to fifteen million new jobs globally.
