Overview and Learning Outcome

The REPowerEU policy sets an ambitious target of producing 35 billion Cubic Meters (bcm) of biomethane in Europe annually by 2030 compared to current production of 6.4 bcm in 2024. This will require the creation of > 1,000 Anaerobic Digestion plants and EUR billions of new investment into the sector. This investment will undoubtedly follow the principles of project finance.

This training course will give participants :

  • A good understanding for how project finance for biogas works
  • Common contractual structures
  • How financing biogas plants is different from wind or solar
  • Real life case studies of recently funded projects
  • Typical bank terms
  • How to value biogas plants
  • Common valuation metrics
  • An overview of the investor market.

 

 

 

The course will be presented by Michael Ware who is the market leader for biogas at Green Giraffe. Michael has been working in project finance for over 20 years and has raised in excess of GBP 1 billion for renewable energy projects. He is currently advising on biogas projects in 7 different European countries.
