Mr Toyokazu Nagamune

Regional Representative for South Asia Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Government of JAPAN

Toyokazu Nagamune is the Regional Representative of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) for South Asia. He joined METI in 2006 and has held various positions covering energy, industrial, and international economic policy.

From 2012 to 2015, he served as Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of Japan in Egypt, and later worked on space policy at the Cabinet Office of Japan. From 2019 to 2022, he served as Secretary-General of the Japan Business Council in Europe (JBCE) in Brussels, promoting EU-Japan economic cooperation. After returning to Japan, he served as Director of the Accounting and Disclosure Office at METI, working on corporate governance and sustainable corporate value creation.

Since July 2024, he has been stationed in New Delhi as METI’s Regional Representative for South Asia, covering a wide range of industrial sectors as well as economic connectivity between South Asia and other regions. He also serves as Senior Director of JETRO New Delhi.
