Italy, Germany and Poland have all launched significant biomethane support programmes. Egypt and Serbia are urged to pursue biogas expansion by national experts. Italy’s new €2.2 billion funding system for biomethane projects has entered into force, with a June deadline for applications and mid-2028 completion date for developers, targeting 5.7 billion cubic metres of biomethane annually by 2030 under its National Integrated Plan for Energy and Climate. Germany’s VORN Bioenergy and Prado Energia have entered a strategic partnership to develop biomethane projects in Portugal – with two 67TWh plants slated. Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) has signed multiple tripartite agreements for the injection of compressed biogas into the City Gas Distribution network across the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the state-owned oil marketing company announced. Read more >
