WBA President David Newman presents food waste report to UN Food & Agriculture Organisation

This week WBA President David Newman was hosted by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation at their headquarters in Rome to present the joint WBA-C40 Cities report Global Food Waste Management: An Implementation Guide for Cities. About 50 staff and Directors of FAO were present and the session lasted 90 minutes, followed by a lunch offered by the hosts.

During the meeting FAO Directors expressed their wish to cooperate with WBA on a series of issues including translating a brief resumé of the report into Spanish and French; working together on their 2019 initiative on food loss and waste; and offering technical advice to projects and research, especially on small-scale biogas in developing countries.

Over the next weeks these discussions will go forward and we will report back once we know how this cooperation will develop.

WBA would like to thank FAO personnel for the invitation and for hosting the meeting, and especially :Anna Lartey, Director; Gunter Hemrich, Deputy Director of Nutrition and Food Systems Division; Rosa S. Rolle, Senior Enterprise Development Officer; Daniele Volpe, Partnerships Officer; Ahmed Raza; and Juri Kasuga.
