David met with HE Jose Dominguez Abascal, Secretary of State for Energy at the Ministry for Ecological Transition of Spain on 11th April for an hour. David was with WBA members from Spain Genia Global Energy.

The discussion revolved around the opportunity for Spain in treating its multiple waste streams going forward, using AD as a technology, and at the same time decarbonising local transport. Mr Abascal informed the group that ( after the forthcoming elections) his Government was committed to promoting renewable energies, realise its Paris Climate commitments, implementing the Circular Economy package, reducing subsidies to fossil fuels, and divesting from fossil fuel industries. He promised to look at the National Energy Plan to review the estimates for biogas production.

Genia also presented their activities and the team thanked the Secretary of State for his attention.
