WBA August Newsletter 2017

News from the President

The summer holidays are coming to an end and we are all heading back to our desks and catching up on the piles of emails and messages to reply to. Unless, like me and colleagues at WBA, you have worked the whole month because we are busy organising our work over the next months.

I am pleased to tell you that we agreed with C40 Cities Climate Leadership Initiative to undertake the world’s first global report on how foodwaste is managed in major cities around the world and showing how AD can be a solution to ensuring sustainable food-waste management. The C40 organisation was established and is partly funded by the former Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, and is currently chaired by the Mayor of Paris. The report will have global resonance and give a pathway to cities to get their food waste under control and use AD and biogas production to resolve their management issues. We predict having a first draft ready in December with the final report to be published in April, presented in a major press conference. I thank C40 for joining with us, my colleagues for their hard work, and the contribution of the Editorial Board who have agreed to help us ensure the work is coherent, readable, technically correct.
