At Agrilux, we turn organic waste coming from separate recycling into biogas and electricity. This is possible thanks to a 100% natural and industry-leading process, that through bio-digesters provides decomposition and fermentation of organic matter to generate biogas, which is a natural gas containing methane and CO2.
This biogas is used to power two 2 groups of 998 kWe CHP engines that turn it into electricity and heat.
In 2011 we installed a 198 kWe photovoltaic system in order to support all our consumptions while all the surpluses go into the grid.

“Montello S.p.A. is located in Bergamo city (in the north of Italy) in an industrial area of around 450,000 m2, 120,000 of which are indoors and has a staff of 650. It is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001 and ISO 50001 certified and operates in recovery and recycling of organic waste, including the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (MSW) from separate collection, treating 369,000 tons/year of waste. The adopted process calls for a first phase of anaerobic treatment generating biogas producing electricity from renewable sources (about 12.8 MW) and thermal energy (about 12.6 MW), and a second phase of aerobic composting with a production of organic fertilizer. Montello is in process of implementing an upgrading system of biogas to produce biomethane for automotive applications and recovery of CO2 suitable to be reused in industrial production cycles, including food applications. It is an example of “Carbon Negative Circular Economy”.

National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) (www.ntua.gr) is the oldest educational institution of Greece in the field of technology and has contributed unceasingly to the country’s scientific, technical and economic development since its foundation in 1836.
