Biomass and its potential to meet Poland’s energy and climate goals

COP24 or the 24^th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC will be hosted in Poland for the third time and will take place during 3-14 December 2018 in Katowice. One of the most important tasks for COP24 is to work out and adopt a package of decisions to ensure the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The mission of COP24 is to show sustainable best practices to combat climate change.

Bioenergy is the largest renewable energy source and will contribute significantly to meeting the energy and climate goals of the Paris Agreement. As host nation, Poland has potential to increase its use of biomass for its own energy needs. In this context, the World Bioenergy Association (WBA) along with Polish Chamber of Biofuels (KIB) and Polish Economic Chamber of Renewable and Distributed Energy (PIGEOR) are organizing a high-level one-day event which brings together stakeholders representing policy makers, private sector, civil society and academia from around the world to inform the audience on the success stories about bioenergy and its potential for Poland.
